South Dakota High School Activities Association crowned three state volleyball champions on Saturday, Nov. 23, at the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls. In the Class AA Championship, No. 1 Harrisburg defeated No. 3 Sioux Falls Washington 25-14, 25-17, 24-26, 25-13. Sioux Falls O’Gorman won the third-place match against Sioux Falls Jefferson in a close 5-set match. In the Class A Championship, No. 3 Dell Rapids secured a victory over No. 4 Dakota Valley 25-21, 25-23, 16-25, 25-11. Sioux Falls Christian took third place by defeating Hamlin. The Class B Championship saw No. 1 Chester Area triumph over No. 2 Warner 18-25, 25-23, 23-25, 25-15, 15-10. Burke finished in third place by defeating Hitchcock-Tulare. Colman-Egan won the consolation championship by defeating Castlewood in a closely contested match. In the seventh-place match, Gayville-Volin emerged victorious against Kadoka Area.
The volleyball tournament featured intense competition and thrilling matchups as teams battled for the state title in their respective classes. Fans were treated to displays of skill and determination by the student-athletes from schools across South Dakota. The event showcased the talent and hard work of high school volleyball players and provided a platform for them to compete at the highest level.
