Tyler author Cathy Mounce has finally released her debut children’s book, ‘Pancake, the Texas Cat,’ after 30 years in the making. The story follows Mounce’s beloved pet, Pancake, a small gray kitten with plenty of Western style and “cattitude.” Through Pancake’s adventures, the book delivers a heartwarming message of embracing oneself and making a difference in the world.
Mounce’s love for Texas and its rich history inspired the creation of the book, which is aimed at children aged 2 to 10. Available on Amazon for $15.95 in paperback or $9.99 as a Kindle e-Book, ‘Pancake, the Texas Cat’ is a rhyming tale that celebrates individuality and the joy that animals bring into our lives.
As a native Texan and a graduate of the University of Texas in Austin, Mounce has always been passionate about storytelling and creativity. In addition to her writing, Mounce has worked in journalism and pursued various artistic endeavors, including photography and illustration.
To celebrate the book’s release, Mounce will be hosting a book signing event on December 12 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Rose City Art Gallery in Tyler. Through ‘Pancake, the Texas Cat,’ Mounce hopes to inspire children to be themselves and make a positive impact on those around them, just like Pancake has done for her.
