Johnson advocates for mail to remain in South Dakota

Following the recent Thanksgiving celebrations, attention in South Dakota has now turned towards Christmas and holiday gift shopping. In light of concerns about USPS restructuring and its potential impact on delivery times, many residents have been worried about their packages arriving on time.

Earlier this year, controversy arose when it was announced that the Huron and Sioux Falls distribution centers would be downsized, leading to mail being processed through Omaha instead. Representative Dusty Johnson spoke out against these changes and recently, the USPS announced that services at the Sioux Falls post office will not be altered.

Johnson emphasized that the changes proposed by USPS were meant to speed up delivery times but had the opposite effect. He stated that the decision to maintain services at the Sioux Falls post office was a significant win for South Dakota and will have a positive impact on mail delivery going forward.

With the holiday season in full swing, it is important for South Dakotans to be aware of any potential disruptions to mail delivery and to plan ahead when purchasing gifts, whether in-store or online. The assurance that services at the Sioux Falls post office will remain unchanged provides some relief to residents, ensuring that their packages will hopefully arrive on time, just in time for Christmas.
