Costco recalls organic eggs due to salmonella worries

Handsome Brook Farms is recalling approximately 10,800 units of organic, pasture-raised eggs sold under Costco’s Kirkland Signature brand due to concerns of potential salmonella contamination. The affected cartons were sold in 25 Costco stores across five states starting on Nov. 22. Only units with Julian code 327 and a “use by” date of Jan. 6, 2025 are impacted by the recall. The recall was initiated after eggs not intended for retail were mistakenly packaged and distributed as retail products. There have been no reports of illness associated with the affected eggs, and the recall is being done in cooperation with the FDA. Consumers who purchased the recalled eggs are urged to return them to Costco for a full refund or dispose of them. Handsome Brook Farms is implementing additional supply chain controls and retraining to prevent similar incidents in the future.
