Coast-to-coast storm causing travel complications for Thanksgiving with rain and snow

As Thanksgiving holiday travel continues, a storm is tracking from the Rockies to the Midwest and Northeast, bringing rain and snow that may impact flights and roads. Nearly 3 million people were screened by the TSA on Wednesday, with record car travel numbers expected. The storm will move eastward impacting cities such as St. Louis, Indianapolis, and Pittsburgh with rain, ice, and snow. Flight delays are reported in Newark, Denver, Salt Lake City, Boston, Dallas, Las Vegas, and others due to weather conditions. Thanksgiving Day will bring rain along the I-95 corridor and heavy snow for interior Northeast and New England. The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City is expected to go on despite the rain. As travel settles on Friday, cold winds may continue in New England and a lake effect snow event will persist around the Great Lakes. Sunday is predicted to be the busiest travel day of the Thanksgiving week with cold temperatures and lake effect snow expected in the Northeast, while the East and West Coasts are favorable for travel. Authorities are warning travelers to be cautious about leaving cars in airport parking lots due to a rise in vehicle thefts, with over 300 car thefts from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and similar incidents at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. Police are working to enhance security measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
