Colin Farrell pushed his friend Emma Fogarty, who lives with a rare skin condition called epidermolysis bullosa (EB), the final 4 kilometers of the Dublin Marathon to raise funds for DEBRA, an Irish charity that supports people with EB. Photos show the actor joyfully pushing Fogarty in her wheelchair during the race. Fogarty, Ireland’s oldest surviving person with EB, can develop painful blisters from the slightest touch due to the lack of essential proteins that bind the skin’s layers together. Despite the severity of her condition, she has surpassed the life expectancy for individuals with her type of EB. Originally aiming to raise €400,000, Farrell and Fogarty now hope to reach a million euros for DEBRA. They appeared on a talk show before the race, where Farrell mentioned that he was pushing Fogarty 1 kilometer for every decade of her life. Fogarty expressed her trust in Farrell and gratitude for his support during the race. The pair finished just before 1 p.m. local time, with Farrell completing the entire marathon in over 4 hours. Their efforts have raised awareness and funds for those living with EB in Ireland.
