Comedian Brittany Furlan and her husband Tommy Lee, drummer of the band Mötley Crüe, narrowly rescued their small dog from a coyote attack in their Los Angeles home. Surveillance footage posted on Instagram shows the coyote snatching the dog, Neena, near the pool. Furlan managed to grab Neena back from the coyote before it escaped over the wall. Furlan emphasized the importance of pet safety in Southern California, where coyote encounters are not uncommon. They are typically 10 to 35 pounds and can be attracted by trash, pet food, and small pets left outside. It is recommended to supervise small pets outdoors and bring them inside at night to prevent attacks. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife estimates that there are between 250,000 to 750,000 coyotes in the state, and they are known for adapting to urban environments. Furlan highlighted the need for vigilance and caution when it comes to protecting pets from wildlife, even during daylight hours. The incident serves as a reminder of the potential dangers faced by pets in areas where coyotes roam, and the importance of taking precautions to ensure their safety.
