Russian President Vladimir Putin was joking when he stated that Moscow supported Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in the upcoming presidential election, according to Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Lavrov explained that Putin has a good sense of humor and often makes jokes during his statements. He also mentioned that there would be no long-term differences in Russia’s attitude towards the U.S. elections, as they believe the country is controlled by the ‘deep state.’
On the other hand, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is planning to travel to the United States to present Kyiv’s “victory plan” in the war against Russia. He intends to meet with President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, as well as with former President Donald Trump. Zelenskyy described the plan as a blueprint for resolving the conflict with Russia diplomatically, and he is seeking more support, both militarily and diplomatically, from the U.S.
Despite the ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine, Zelenskyy is determined to push for a peaceful resolution and strengthen Ukraine’s position with support from the U.S. He is expected to ask for the lifting of restrictions on long-range missile strikes inside Russia. Zelenskyy has emphasized the importance of finding a ‘just peace’ and has ruled out freezing the war as a solution to Russian aggression.
