The Federal Bureau of Investigation, along with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Criminal Investigation Division and Coast Guard Investigative Services, are conducting law enforcement activities aboard the Maersk Saltoro, a vessel managed by the same company responsible for the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge. The Dali, a cargo ship owned by the same companies, struck a support pillar of the bridge on March 26, causing it to collapse and resulting in the deaths of six construction workers. The National Transportation Safety Board reported that the ship suffered power losses before the collision, which left it unable to steer away from the bridge. The U.S. Justice Department has filed a lawsuit alleging that Grace Ocean Private Limited and Synergy Marine Group neglected electrical problems on the Dali leading up to the incident. NBC News has reached out to the companies and relevant authorities for comment. This situation is still developing, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
