Law enforcement officials in Philadelphia provided an update on a case involving 18-year-old Muhyyee-ud-din Abdul-Rahman, who they claim communicated with a group affiliated with Al-Qaeda and attempted to obtain weapons of mass destruction. Abdul-Rahman had bomb-making materials found in his home and had tested bombs in the woods, with potential plans to attack the LGBTQ community during the Philadelphia Pride March. He also intended to move to Syria to become a bomb-maker for a terrorist group. Officials discovered searches on his phones related to the parade, nuclear power stations, military bases, and other locations. Abdul-Rahman was ruled to be charged as an adult, with bail set at $5 million. He is facing charges of weapons of mass destruction, criminal conspiracy, arson, and related offenses. Officials stated that no one else in his family was involved in or aware of his alleged activities. Abdul-Rahman has not entered a plea, and his family could not be reached for comment.
