Formula One put on an exciting show at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, with Oscar Piastri coming out on top in a battle with Charles Leclerc. Lando Norris also made an impressive comeback from 15th on the grid to finish fourth, helping McLaren take the lead in the constructors’ championship for the first time in a decade. However, the performances of two young drivers, Franco Colapinto and Oliver Bearman, should not be overlooked.
Competing in only their second Grand Prix, Colapinto finished in eighth for Williams and Bearman in 10th for Haas. Colapinto, who was a last-minute replacement at Williams, showed composure and skill after enduring a crash in the build-up to the race. He qualified ninth and worked his way back to eighth in a challenging race. Bearman, standing in for Kevin Magnussen at Haas, demonstrated maturity beyond his years, leading Lewis Hamilton before finishing in 10th.
Colapinto and Bearman’s performances highlighted the talent and potential of F1’s future drivers. With impressive displays in Baku, both drivers proved their ability to adapt and perform under pressure. While Colapinto’s future in F1 remains uncertain, Bearman has shown he could be a valuable asset for Haas next season. As the two young drivers continue to showcase their skills in upcoming races, they have the opportunity to secure permanent seats in the sport.
