The NFL playoff picture is heating up as several teams vie for the top seeds in their respective conferences. In the AFC, the Baltimore Ravens have become the first 10-win team and are showing strong odds to make the playoffs at 99.4 percent, with a 33.6 percent chance at earning a first-round bye, and a 13.4 percent chance of winning the Super Bowl. The Kansas City Chiefs, however, have faced struggles with four losses in six games and have seen a drop in their playoff odds to 98 percent.
The playoff race is also heating up, with several teams in the hunt with 7-6 records – including the Houston Texans, Denver Broncos, and Cincinnati Bengals. Teams eliminated from playoff contention include the New England Patriots.
In the NFC, the 49ers and Cowboys are both strong contenders for the top seeds. The 49ers have averaged 19.4 points during their five-game streak and have secured a 100 percent chance of making the playoffs, and a 61.1 percent chance of earning a first-round bye.
For the Cowboys, they are averaging 39.9 points and two takeaways per game at home, with a perfect 7-0 record. They have already secured a 100 percent chance of making the playoffs. However, it’s still a battle to secure the NFC East and a 10.5 percent chance to earn a first-round bye.
The Detroit Lions are also hanging on to playoff hopes with a 98.2 percent chance, while the Tampa Bay Buccaneers sit in first place in the NFC South at 6-7 with a 37.6 percent chance of making the playoffs. The remaining schedule for these teams will be crucial in determining the final playoff spots.
